I have a terrible cold. I’m sneezing like crazy, and I refuse to take medicine.

Are there any herbs that are okay to take, and help fight off colds?? Do you know of any herbs that heal anything else?? If you could, list some garden herbs that fight off anything- sore throat, sneezing, etc..

Thanks in advance!!

  3. I dont know of herbs specifically but in Trinidad we use garlic tea to get rid of the cold and it also clears up your throat really well.It tastes awful though but it works…lol.

You can also try some honey and lime.My mom has a book on alternative medicine. Its to late now to call her and get the name of it so Ill do it tomorrow,GODs willing and send you the name of it.The book is pretty useful.

Im sorry to hear you have the cold.Cheer up and smile:)

  4. raw garlic is good for colds. drink some in water.

  5. Garlic, ginger, echinacea, oregano (usually the oil is best) are all good herbs to help boost the immune system and act as anti-microbial to destroy any bacteria present. Taking extra vitamin C and zinc can help to fight off the cold also. Make sure you get lots of rest!!!

Drink Spearmint tea, It tastes great with a teaspoon of raw unprocessed honey. Buy it in bulk (loose) not in a teabag if possible. The herb has been chopped so many times that are in a tea bag that the medicinal qualities are gone. It is helpful to take vit.C with rose hips daily to prevent a cold. Drink bottled water too. Sage tea is real good for colds too. If you can buy all herbs loose…….add about 1 tablespoon in about 4 cups of water …boil on stove (do not microwave) heat to a boiling then turn off heat…let simmer for a few minutes….make sure a lid is on the sauce pan you are heating the herbs in…otherwise the medicinal proprieties dissipate in the air. It is one or the other..Use separately.

There are several things you can use for colds inregards to herbal remedies.
My favorites are oil of oregano 3drops under the tongue 3 times a day after meals
Vitamin C 1000- 2000mg per day for an adult.
    Lots of water
Black tea with honey and lemon.

  9. Echinacea, black elderberry, eucalyptus. You can in addition take vitamin c, zinc and/ selenium. For sinus relief, if you have a juicer, juice about 1 inch daikon and 1 knob ginger. It is not tasty and I try to juice enough to be around 1 or 2 oz. Take more than one shot throughout the day but have something to down right after you take it.
